Description

Develops content strategy, writes marketing content and assists in content creation for all digital platforms that leads and supports marketing and public information work that helps the university reach its recruiting and development goals and builds advocacy for the university.

 
Examples

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Social Media and in coordination with the Director of Marketing & Public Information, the Digital Media Specialist: Assists in research, planning, creation and implementation of initiatives to advance the university through digital marketing and social media. Ensures content is adjusted accordingly to optimize recruitment, development, and advocacy opportunities for the university. Assists in building strategy for development of relevant and engaging digital content and writes content for digital media – including digital advertising, video and university updates – that provides leads and conversions in the areas of recruitment and development and further engagement with the university. Assists in content creation for all University social media platforms. Develops project plans and creates and manages digital media projects, including video projects for University social media platforms. Possesses basic knowledge of cameras, photography, and videography. Oversees and implements multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with writers, photographers, graphic designers, videographers and strategic partners on campus. In the absence of the Assistant Director for Social Media, serves as the social media community manager, assisting in monitoring all social media platforms. Has the ability to maintain brand voice and post content on University social media. 

 
Physical Condition
Experience

Experience of 2-3 years in a related field such as content generation or media production. Bilingual preferred by not required.

 
Knowledge

Operation knowledge of digital content management system(s), metrics, social media platforms and marketing capabilities. Skilled in writing clear, concise marketing copy and targeting writing to different audiences. Strong social media background and experience in creating different types of digital content. Ability to listen carefully to clients and university leadership and skillfully translate requested projects to communications and marketing staff. Ability to demonstrate how a creative vision helps achieve the goals of the client and university overall. Ability to stay abreast of new digital technologies, analyze new trends and data, and provide feasible recommendations to leadership. Strong strategic and creative thinking with a disciplined approach to creative development, validation and deployment. Effective time management skills with the ability to meet aggressive and changing deadlines. Ability to use software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Creative Suite.

 
Education

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing, public relations, advertising, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Should possess the sensitivity and skill to work with a diverse student and employee population; the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment and personal maturity; and strong interpersonal skills. Understanding of how to work in a time-sensitive workspace.
