On Your First Day

Once you've been offered employment on campus, please make sure to bring the following forms to Human Resources, located in the Hardin Admin., Bldg., Room 210.

  1. New Hire Information Form 
  2. Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification), completion no later than the first day of employment with supporting documents required within three days of employment

International Student Hires - Please email dso@msutexas.edu to inform a DSO in Global Education of your recent hire and have your on-campus work authorization sent to Human Resources. Please visit the Types of Employment page for more information.

Social Security Card - For Payroll purposes, employees must be able to present a copy of his/her original social security card even if you choose not to use this card to complete your I-9. If you do not have a social security card, please locate the nearest Social Security office. Employees will NOT be paid until the social security card has been presented to Human Resources.

The Form I-9 and work documents must be presented to Human Resources within 3 days of your start date to avoid termination.

Work Hour Limits

As a reminder, ALL employees, regardless of rank, must complete the online employee training module, which includes topics on workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, ethics, child protection, and the Campus SaVE Act.

This training must be completed by all employees within 30 days of their start date and every two years thereafter.
