Description

Responsible for managing all supervising aspects of clinical teaching and teacher residency, including professional development, training, supervision, and support for teacher candidates, clinical teachers, teacher residents, faculty, cooperating/host teachers, site coordinators, and university field supervisors (UFS). Effectively communicate and facilitate decision-making, planning, publication, and compliance with regulations (TAC) related to clinical teaching and teacher residency. Collaborate with faculty and staff from WCOEPS and other colleges (PY, MCOSME, Fain) on field experiences, clinical teaching, and teacher residency matters, including, but not limited to, placements of candidates throughout the teacher education program. Perform additional duties as required by the college and or dean to support organizational goals. Reports to the Dean of the West College of Education and Professional Studies.

 
Examples

Serves as a site coordinator and liaison between the university and school districts, building networks and relationships between these parties. Supports the recruitment of teacher residency candidates and establishes connections with current and potential district partners including strategic staffing. Facilitates networking and related district and university/college events. Secures clinical teachers, teacher residents, and field-based methods/foundation course placements.

Collaborates with district and site administrators to recruit and select teacher mentors, creating effective mentor/host-resident partnerships. Oversees UFS and Site Coordinators concerning Clinical Teaching and Teacher Residency. Establishes continuous and effective communication systems with district partners, administrators, mentors, and community stakeholders.

Provides coaching and professional development/trainings for UFS, Site Coordinators, host teachers, cooperating teachers/mentors, and teacher candidates in clinical teaching and teacher residency. Plans and facilitates quarterly data-driven trainings for mentors, host teachers, and cooperating teachers, along with ongoing mentor meetings and support. Teaches seminar course for teacher residents.

Leads, supports, and monitors evidence and reporting related to TEA Clinical Experiences and Teacher Residency compliance including TK20 uploads, verification, and management of processes and procedures related to clinical experiences/teacher residency, and integration of technology. Leads the TEA Teacher Residency application process and monitors and verifies all student records related to clinical teaching and Teacher Residency.

 
Physical Condition

Experience

Experience integrating technology into PK-12 learning; current U.S. teaching credentials, three years of U.S. public school experience, and evidence of an accomplished educator.

 
Knowledge

Knowledge of content and skills necessary to develop and provide professional development and support to teacher candidates. Knowledge of Texas Administrative Code (TAC) related to field experience and clinical teaching/teacher residency. 

 
Education

Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. Google Educator Level 1 and 2 Certification preferred.

 
Additional Requirements

Must be able to work on multiple projects concurrently. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
