Title
Director, Military Education Center
Description

Reporting to the Provost, the Director of the Military Education Center (MEC) oversees the day-to-day operations of the MEC and is responsible for all aspects of the resource center and the Military and Adult Education (MAE) program, including planning, program development, budgeting, outreach, and assessment. Responsible for synchronizing the efforts of multiple functions toward a unified vision of service to military-connected students with a defined mission and goal set. 

Examples

Recruits, trains, and oversees professional interactions with military-connected students and their families; develops and delivers military-connected-focused training. Coordinates with offices across the university, including the colleges, graduate school, Student Support Center, Registrar, Business Office, Financial Aid, and Disability Support Services.Creates and reinforces external relationships with community members and Sheppard Air Force Base. Maintains appropriate records, evaluates all programs annually, and maintains the budget.

Physical Condition

Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over thirty pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform manual tasks associated with programming responsibilities.

Experience

Minimum of five years of project management and three years of program management; demonstrated excellence in transcending visions and missions into actionable goals and results. Must be adept at building and managing a team of interdisciplinary experts. Supervisory, budget oversight, and management responsibilities, preferably at a four-year institution of higher education. Experience providing curriculum development and training.

Knowledge

Minimum: demonstrated understanding of program management. Preferred: demonstrated multiple instances of project management or periods and experiences of informal program management

Education

Bachelor’s degree required. Either graduate degree or military experience required.

Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to collaborate effectively with our campus community. Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to take initiative.
