Title
Director, Student Success Center
Description

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Innovation and Success, the Director of the Student Success Center (SSC) oversees the day-to-day operations of the SSC. The SSC Director is responsible for all aspects of the MSU Success Coaching program, including providing support for at-risk students, as well as planning and program development, budgeting, outreach, and assessment. Responsible for engaging in research regarding best practices in success coaching and providing ongoing training and development opportunities for campus personnel.

 

Examples

Coordinates the delivery of intentional, on-time academic coaching support for at-risk students, including Admitted By Review, Probation, Readmitted, and Re-enrolling. Recruits, trains, and oversees professional and student success coaches; develops and delivers training/professional development in success coaching; collaborates with personnel in Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and the Military Education Center to deliver timely and suitable academic support. Maintains appropriate records, evaluates all programs annually, and maintains the budget. Works with the EAB Navigate team to coordinate communication about individual students and conduct campaigns to build utilization of the SSC.

Physical Condition

Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over thirty pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform manual tasks associated with programming responsibilities.

Experience

Minimum of three years of college teaching; demonstrated excellence working one-on-one with students, especially those considered at-risk for academic success. Supervisory, budget oversight, and management responsibilities, preferably at a four-year institution of higher education. Experience providing curriculum development and training.

Knowledge

Minimum: demonstrated understanding of success coaching practices. Preferred: demonstrated professional development, training, and/or certification in success coaching.

Education

Graduate degree required; preferred degrees should include a background in education.

Additional Requirements

Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to collaborate effectively with our university campus community. Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to take initiative.
