- Description
Responsible to the Head Coach for such coaching and recruiting duties as might be assigned. May be assigned to teach during regular academic year.
- Examples
Assists the Head Coach in organizing and supervising practices; maintaining uniforms and equipment; enforcing team discipline and rules of conduct; and developing a recruiting program designed to attract top quality student athletes to the university. Reviews and evaluates games films and recommends appropriate strategies in preparing for upcoming opponents. Assists in monitoring the academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes. Conducts performance evaluations and counsels with individual student athletes. Supervises graduates-student coaches. Supports the Head Coach in insuring compliance with all rules and regulations of the conferences or national athletic associations of which the university may be a member. Assists with travel arrangements; scheduling; with tracking injuries; and with fund-raising activities. Represents the Head Coach at public functions when the Head Coach is unable to attend. Performs such other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Athletics Director.

Some heavy lifting is required.
- Experience
Preferably one-two years of related coaching experience at a four-year institution, or three to five years of experience at the junior college or high school level.
- Knowledge
Must be able to communicate and deal effectively with a variety of constituencies, including students, alumni, boosters, the media, and the community at large. Public speaking skills extremely helpful. Must have good organizational and administrative skills.
- Education
Bachelor's required, Masters preferred. Preferably in Kinesiology and or Sports Administration.
- Additional Requirements
Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. May be required to teach academic subjects. Requires strong interpersonal skills. *Must pass the NCAA recruiting certification test annually. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
