Title
Director, MSU Cycling Team
Description

Reporting directly to the Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities. The Director of MSU Cycling is responsible for the overall daily operations of the cycling program to include team management, coaching, training, recruiting, sponsorship procurement and public relations activities. The Director may also teach up to 6 credit hours per semester in Exercise Physiology, with the proper credentials.

Examples

Coordinates all travel and training activities for the cycling team; coordinates all activities related to cycling scholarships; and prepares cycling team press releases and maintains its Web site. Serves on the Race Committee for the Hotter `N Hell Hundred, as race director. If applicable, teaches labs in the undergraduate Exercise Physiology program during the fall and spring semesters, and may have additional teaching duties depending upon the need. Performs other duties as assigned..

Physical Condition

Must be physically able to perform all duties of the Director, including the ability to tolerate extreme weather conditions.

Experience

Appropriate experience in cycling, coaching, team management, and race promotion and permitting. International cycling, road cycling, mountain biking, track cycling, and classroom teaching in exercise physiology experience is preferred. 

Knowledge

Must have a good knowledge of the rules and regulations of the cycling sanctioning bodies of which the University is a member; know how to prepare and adhere to a fiscally responsible budget; and be proficient in the use of computers. Must also know how to plan, promote and direct collegiate races.

Education

Master's degree required; doctorate preferred.

Additional Requirements

The Director should have a USA Cycling coaching license. Must have the proven ability to coach and run a training program for beginning through elite cyclists, along with strong interpersonal and public speaking skills, including the presence and poise necessary to interact effectively with various constituencies.
