Title
Head Coach, Volleyball
Description

Responsible for management and administration of the women's intercollegiate volleyball program within the guidelines, rules and regulations of Midwestern State University, the Lone Star Conference and the NCAA. Supervises graduate assistants and student assistants.

Examples

Coach intercollegiate women's volleyball. Assist with preparation, control, and operate within the budget established for volleyball. Assist with the scheduling of competitive intercollegiate volleyball contests with the Director of Athletics. Scout and recruit quality student-athletes and coordinate recruiting activities with the Director. Assist with arrangements for home and away contests. Supervise full time and part-time assistant coach and other auxiliary personnel. Public relations duties and activities with faculty, students, contributors, alumni and University administrators. Supervise all correspondence with prospects, coaches, parents, alumni, etc., including mailings and responses. Establish and ensure communication and enforcement of regulations regarding student conduct, appearance, and behavior. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Physical Condition
Experience

Preferably 5 years or more of collegiate head coaching experience. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

Knowledge

Must be able to communicate and deal effectively with a variety of constituencies, including students, alumni, boosters, the media, and the community at large. Public speaking skills extremely helpful. Must have good organizational and administrative skills.

Education

Master's degree preferred, preferably in Kinesiology and/or sports administration.

Additional Requirements

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must have previous experience and proven record in coaching college volleyball programs including; recruiting, scouting, fund raising, budget preparation, effective communication skills, scheduling and PR skills. Must have thorough knowledge of applicable NCAA rules and regulations. Must be certified in subjects he/she teaches. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
