The Department of English, Humanities, and Philosophy in the Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities & Social Sciences at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure -track Assistant Professor in British Literature to begin Fall 2026.
Area of specialization within British Literature ·is open. Primary teaching duties will include "Survey of English Literature I" and "Survey of English Literature II," often in dual-credit modalities. As teaching dual-credit courses will be a primary component of this position, the candidate must have full-time high school teaching experience and/or experience teaching dual-credit courses at a college or university. Candidate will also be expected to teach upper-level courses within the English major, freshman writing courses, and graduate-level literature courses as assigned.
As a faculty member in the Department of English, Humanities, and Philosophy, you will be expected to teach 12 credit hours (4 courses) a semester; contribute to the teaching mission of the department; mentor graduate students when applicable; develop and maintain a record of research activity in one's area of specialization; provide service to the department/college, university, and community; and have a commitment to MSU Texas's core values.
About the College: The Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences consists of the academic departments of English, humanities, and philosophy; history; psychology; political science; sociology; and world languages and cultures. Each department offers majors, minors, and core curriculum courses. Faculty development funding is available at the university; college, and departmental level.

Required Qualifications:
1. A Ph.D. in English;
2. Demonstrated ability to teach surveys of English Literature: from medieval to neoclassical, and from the Romantics to the Moderns;
3. Previous full-time experience teaching British Literature in high school and or as
dual credit.
4. A trajectory of research in British Literature consistent with rank at Assistant Professor.
