The Lecturer is an individual who has fulfilled all of the academic and teaching requirements of that position as defined in the Midwestern State University Manual of Policies and Procedures. Lecturers are appointed on a yearly basis.
- Examples
Teach a twelve-hour load each long-term semester of general education classes, prepare and administer tests, meet with and counsel individual students through required office hours, engage in departmental, college, or university service related to freshman and sophomore retention activities. Complete a lecture personal report each contract year.

Must have a demonstrated competence in the field.
- Knowledge
Must be familiar with classroom protocol and testing and grading techniques, and, if applicable, know the safety standards and procedures for the use of any equipment, materials or supplies used for instructional or research purposes. Knowledge in the use of personal computers and commonly used office software programs strongly desired.
- Education
Master's degree in the instructional discipline or at least eighteen (18) hours of graduate credit in the subject to be taught.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must have an interest in and capacity for teaching; be able to relate to students; establish strong working relationships with colleagues; and be able to be a positive representative of the University both on and off campus. Other requirements may vary according the needs of the individual college or academic program.
