Responsibilities

The Department of Psychology in the Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track Assistant/ Associate Professor position beginning Fall of 2026.As a faculty member in the Department of Psychology, you will be expected to:

(a) Teach 12 credit hours (4 courses) a semester; (b) contribute to the teaching mission of Psychology; (c) mentor undergraduate students; (d) develop a record of research; and (e) provide service to the department, college, university and/or the community.

About the College

The Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences consists of the academic departments of English, humanities, and philosophy; history; psychology; political science; sociology; and world languages and cultures. Each department offers majors, minors, and core curriculum courses. Faculty development funding is available at the university, college, and departmental levels.

About the Department/School/Area:

The department of psychology regularly has 200+ majors with an active Psi Chi/Psychology club chapter. We are a collegial department, and faculty are independent in that they get to best determine how to prepare and teach advanced classes-each faculty can design 1-2 courses of their choosing.

Requirements

Required Qualifications (should be populated into search committee matrix):

1.    ABD or PhD/PsyD in Psychology.

2.    Specialization would include Social Psychology, Health Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Experimental Psychology, or related field

Preferred Qualifications (should be populated into search committee matrix):

1.    Teaching experience.

2.    Experience with being active in the community.

Standard Requirements

Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
