Assistant Director, Financial Aid

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid serves with the Director as a resource person on matters of financial aid and other administratiave function and assists in the coordination of federal, state, university and aid programs in accordance with applicable laws. Also assists the Director in the review, interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures. Reports to and performs other duties as assigned by the Director.


Supervises the packaging of individual aid programs; monitors satisfactory progress requirements; calculates and processes refunds to insure that they are returned to the appropriate account and/or agency when necessary. Conducts group loan entrance and exit interviews; notifies borrowers of their delinquent or default status. Also completes state and federal reports as required; conducts financial said presentations throughout the University's service area.

Physical Condition

A minimum of two years experience in college or university financial aid is required.


Must have an advanced knowledge of state and federal financial aid programs to include grants, loans, scholarships, and work study. Must be knowledgeable in the use of personal computers as well as commonly used office software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Should also have good knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, budgeting, recordkeeping, and personnel management.


Graduation from high school or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Must be highly motivated with sufficient managerial skills to provide the leadership necessary to insure efficient and effective office operations. Must have good communication skills; have strong interpersonal skills; and be able to handle sensitive situations in a professional and confidential manner. Must be well organized and able to make presentations to individuals and groups. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
