Dr. Jennifer Amox | Department of Music Chair
Dr. Jennifer Amox is the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Music at Midwestern State University. She is a flutist who teaches courses in music theory.

Josh Lemley | Music Secretary
Josh Lemley is thrilled to serve as Secretary for the MSU Music Department. As a lifelong musician and advocate of the arts, he is excited to play a role in promoting music at MSU and in his native town of Wichita Falls. A bass trombone player for 25+ years, he recently founded the local trombone choir, Trombonafide, and he enjoys performing with MSU’s Communiversity Ensemble.
Josh earned his BA in History from Adams State University in Colorado. He has an eclectic range of interests, with hands-on experiences in living history reenactment, archeology, live theatre production, and even blacksmithing.

Sandra Cunningham is on the faculty of the Department of Music as a

Dr. Matthew Luttrell is the Director of Bands and Orchestras at Midwestern State University. His ensembles include the Golden Thunder Marching Band, the University Wind Ensemble, and the University Orchestra.

Dr. Corey Robinson | Percussion and Associate Director of Bands
Dr. Corey Robinson leads all percussion activities at Midwestern State University. His main duties involve teaching applied percussion lessons, percussion ensemble, the Golden Thunder Marching Band, and the basketball band.

Dr. Chris Vivio leads all instruction of Low Brass in the Department of Music at Midwestern State University. He teaches Applied Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba Lessons, as well as Music Technology and American Popular Music.

Dr. Rafael Powell II | Instructor of Single Reeds
Dr. Rafael Powell II is a freelance woodwind teacher, clinician, and performer based in Dallas-Fort Worth; he joined the Midwestern State University faculty as Visiting Instructor of Single Reeds in 2023, where he teaches applied saxophone, clarinet, woodwind methods, and improvisation. Powell his holds D.M.A. degree in saxophone performance from Texas Tech University, 2025.

Dr. SungSoo Cho
Dr. Sungsoo Cho is on the faculty of the Department of Music as a collaborative pianist and instructor of piano/music. He, along with the other collaborative pianists, performs with students during Student Recital and Degree Recitals. Dr. Cho also plays for Midwestern Singers and Oratorio Chorus.

Dr. Ruth Morrow | Professor Emeritus 1989 - 2025
Dr. Ruth Morrow taught at MSU from 1989 until retiring in 2025. In this role, she led instruction of keyboard instruments within the Department of Music and courses in Music History. An active performer, Dr. Morrow was the recipient of the Carnes Fellow in 2020. She served on the MSU Board of Regents and the boards of the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra as well as the Wichita Falls Museum of Art.
Dr. Susan Harvey
Dr. Susan Harvey is an Associate Professor of Music. She leads instruction of the Music Education curriculum and teaches courses in Sight-singing & Ear Training, Foundations of Music, and Elementary Music.
