Scholarships are available to music majors by audition and are renewable. Students of all majors who participate in marching band, basketball band, or choir are eligible for additional scholarships.

You do not need to be a music major to apply!


Welcome to The Music Department

The mission of the Midwestern State University Department of Music is to provide a comprehensive music curriculum within a liberal arts framework for all students. Our degree programs systematically equip music degree-seeking students as professional musicians and prepare them for a career in music. In addition, the liberal arts foundation of our university develops the aesthetic sensibility, cultural awareness, and social responsibility of each student.

The following degree programs are offered for music majors:

  • Bachelor of Arts
  • Bachelor of Music (Performance-Instrumental)
  • Bachelor of Music (Performance-Keyboard)
  • Bachelor of Music (Performance-Vocal)
  • Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification (Instrumental)
  • Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification (Vocal)

In addition to the above majors, the college also offers a music minor.
