Assists with the development and coordination of new student orientation programs for entering undergraduates, including programs and services for transfer students and distance education students. Collects and synthesizes data pertaining to orientation programs and services, and works with the Associate Director to make data-informed decisions regarding assessment and feedback from university orientation programs. Advertises, selects, and hires student orientation leaders to assist with the orientation programs under the direction of the Associate Director. Interviews, selects, and supervises orientation interns to assist with the coordination of the orientation program. Works to maintain and enhance a quality orientation program. Assists with the hosting of special events sponsored by MSU Admissions. Assists with supervision and training of Welcome Center staff including student assistants. Maintains thorough and specialized knowledge of Midwestern State University's policies and programs. Assists with the adaptation and implementation of technology. Acts as liaison with Information Systems and Webmaster staff. Reports to the Associate Director of Admissions.
Aids the associate director in staff management. Assists with the development of orientation materials, making recommendations to the Associate Director regarding policies and procedures. Assists with travel to recruit and retain prospective MSU students following MSU's enrollment management plan. Works with Information Systems and Webmaster for implementation and adaptation of technology. Works independently, creating and implementing successful orientation programs.
Physical Condition
Ability to lift a minimum of twenty pounds.
Minimum of 1-2 years progressive experience and training in a college environment, preferably in orientation, college admissions, and/or recruitment. Experience in enrollment management planning and/or orientation programming and/or event planning. Background in technology strongly preferred. Experience in working with databases, web configuration, demographics, and admissions counseling.
Thorough understanding of admission policies, university policies, regulations, and degree requirements. Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers and commonly used office software programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Background in Banner software, preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills, required.
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or some graduate work, preferred.

Requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with diverse populations, and general office skills. Must be able to work independently and as a team member. Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of interaction involving the public and university faculty/administration. Must make a strong, positive representation of MSU and attract quality applicants to achieve stated enrollment goals. Must be adaptable, flexible, and cooperative. Occasional evening and weekend programming required. Other duties as assigned. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires a valid Texas driver's license. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
