Designs web pages consistent with the mission and branding of the University. Responsible for updating and adding new styles to the University stylesheet. Works closely with administrators, faculty and staff to design new sites, and pages, and to maintain stylesheets for existing designs. Creates and maintains the look, layout, and features of the Universities main site, subdomains, and microsites. Reports to the Webmaster and works closely with the Marketing department.
Works with end users (content editors) to develop ideas that integrate with the University's branding standards to develop a cohesive website. Assists end users in creating ADA compliant documents for the website. Develops ADA compliant graphics for use on the University website. Provides support to end users in the content management system, survey software and any other software platforms utilized by the Webmaster's office. Works with faculty and staff to update online profiles and syllabi. Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Condition
Must have at least 2 years of experience in writing code and visual design. Experience in PHP, JavaScript, and SQL is preferred. Experience in SASS, LESS, or any other preprocessing language is preferred.
Must be well-versed in all aspects of creating a website and in the proper use of web content management systems. Strong skills in planning organization, active listening and attention to details; ability to take initiative, multi-task and work cross-functionally. Understand basic web design and the fundamentals of design imaging. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and any code editor(s).
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
Additional Requirements
Proven work experience as a web graphic designer. Demonstrable graphic design skills with a portfolio Experience is a plus in creating wireframes, storyboards, and site maps Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator or other visual design and wire framing tools Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system-interaction Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively Up-to-date with the latest web trends, techniques and technologies. Must have the ability to coordinate work with other team members and possess good analytical and problem-solving skills. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Low) and requires a criminal background check.
