Responsibilities

As a faculty member in the Department of Psychology, you will be expected to: (a) Teach 12 credit hours (4 courses) a semester; (b) contribute to the teaching mission of Psychology; and (c) have the opportunity to start/continue your research program.

Candidate must be able to teach: General Psychology 1 and/or 2 ; Writing in Psychology and some of the following courses based on experience or graduate preparation: Critical Thinking in Psychology, Social Psychology, Human Sexuality, Child Clinical Psychology, Personal Relations & Interactions, Develop 1-2 courses in your area of specialty.

The department of psychology regularly has 200+ majors with an active Psi Chi/Psychology club chapter. We are a collegial department, and faculty are independent in that they get to best determine how to prepare and teach advanced classes-each faculty can design 1-2 courses of their choosing.

The Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences consists of the academic departments of English, humanities, and philosophy; history; psychology; political science; sociology; and world languages and cultures. Each department offers majors, minors, and core curriculum courses. Faculty development funding is available at the university, college, and departmental levels.


Requirements

Required Qualifications:

ABD or PhD/PsyD in Psychology; Specialization may include Social Psychology, Health Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Experimental Psychology, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching experience.

Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
