Responsibilities

The Juanita and Ralph Harvey School of Visual Arts seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Art – Photography. This is a full time, benefits eligible, 1 year visiting position to begin August 17, 2026. Salary is competitive.

The successful candidate will teach a range of photography courses at the undergraduate level that include the Adobe Creative Suite and time-based media in addition to a section of Art Appreciation.

The Lamar D. Fain College of Fine Arts encompasses undergraduate programs in art, mass communication, music and theatre. The Juanita and Ralph Harvey School of Visual Arts is dedicated to ensuring that the students acquire the necessary foundation knowledge and skills, develop marketable competencies in an area of artistic specialization, and come to see themselves as productive members of the global society and as responsible professionals committed to excellence.We offer a wide variety of disciplines: ceramics, drawing, graphic design, metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, art education and art history and we are a member of NASAD.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an M.F.A. in Photography or related discipline at the time employment begins. Recent M.F.A. graduates are encouraged to apply. Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary education environment and/or professional experience is desired.


Standard Requirements

Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements. Regular reliable attendance is required.

This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check. Position is designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
