- Description
Ensures the building systems at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU Texas are operated according to AAM standards, providing optimal physical and environmental conditions for public safety, museum operations, and the preservation, display and care of works of art. Follows a building Maintenance and Operations Plan, including the performance of routine maintenance and daily cleaning schedule. Assists in facilitating exhibition logistics. Reports to the Museum Director.
- Examples
Assists with set up and break down of special events, workshops and presentations at the Museum. Routinely examines and identifies all environmental threats to facilities and collections and makes recommendations to the Museum Curator. Consults on and/or participates in special projects as requested with regard to design, lighting, engineering, planning, construction, and operation. Provides reports, information and assistance for grants, loans, and surveys required by other campus departments. Aides in preparation and administration of life safety, OSHA, building and electrical code compliance. Implements, coordinates, and directs the Maintenance and Operations Plan for the Museum facilities and grounds. Inspects the condition of the facilities and prepares recommendations for improvements necessary to preserve the aesthetic and architectural integrity of the site and maintain efficient operations of the buildings. Oversees the maintenance and operation of fire suppressions sprinkler system and HVAC operation, cleaning, climate control, landscaping, and exterminating services. Monitors mechanical, electrical, and information technology systems. May assist with the maintenance and repair of equipment, systems, or components. Performs routine daily custodial duties in the Museum facility. Performs other work related duties as assigned.
- Physical Condition
Requires constant physical movement and the ability to be on feet for extended periods of time. Must be able to climb ladders, lift up to 75 lbs. and safely operate tools and machinery.
- Experience
At least one-year experience in building maintained preferred. Experience in environments involving climate sensitivities, design, and construction projects preferred.
- Knowledge
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization and planning skills, and the ability to move between varieties of very different tasks with ease. Must be knowledgeable in maintenance and repair of equipment used by the Museum; use of manual and power tools; exhibition prep work and all types of lighting requests. Working knowledge of buildings and mechanical systems; maintenance and repair methods; tools and materials.
- Education
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
- Additional Requirements
Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Ability to work unsupervised. On call 24 hours a day for any emergency situations. This position requires a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends Tues-Sat, defined weekly by the events schedule and needs. * *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires employment physical exam. *This position is designated as security sensitive (low) and requires a criminal background check.
