Title
Programmer Analyst II
Description

Performs technical work involving analyzing administrative, fiscal, statistical, and/or engineering problems. May be involved in systems programming activities. Works under general supervision with wide latitude for creative thinking and planning. Reports to the Administrative Systems Manager.

Examples

Analyze problems outlined by management or systems analysts in terms of detailed equipment requirements and capabilities. Works with customers to determine proper flow of information. Assists in preparing detailed analyses, plans, diagrams, and verification procedures for existing and proposed computer applications. Assists in development and testing of automated systems. Assists in evaluating data processing equipment and techniques for applicability, reliability, flexibility, speed, and costs. May verify program logic by preparing and using test data. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Condition

Ability to lift 25 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Experience

Six or more years of experience in analysis of automatic data processing problems and in computer programming. Must have prior experience in writing programs for end users. Experience with Ellucian's Banner products for higher education including Student, Financial Aid, Faculty, Finance, HR, Payroll or General modules on platforms such as AIX, Unix, or Linux is desirable.

Knowledge

Knowledge of one or more of the following: Oracle 10g/11g Databases, SQL, PL/SQL, Packages, Stored Procedures, Object oriented programming in Java and/or Groovy, experience in database tools such as Toad or SQL Developer. Experience with reporting tools such as Argos, Crystal Reports is desirable. Must have knowledge of Microsoft office products. Knowledge of client/server based systems, helpful.

Education

Requires bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
