Title
Assistant Coach, Men's Soccer
Description

Responsible to the Head Soccer Coach for such coaching and recruiting duties as might be assigned.

Examples

Assists the Head Coach in organizing and supervising practices; maintaining uniforms and equipment; enforcing team discipline and rules of conduct; and developing a recruiting program designed to attract top quality student athletes to the university. Travels to club and high school tournaments to evaluate and recruit future student athletes. Assists in monitoring the academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes. Conducts performance evaluations and counsels with individual student athletes. Supports the Head Coach in insuring compliance with all rules and regulations of the conferences or national athletic associations of which the university may be a member. Represents the Head Coach at public functions when the Head Coach is unable to attend. Performs such other duties as assigned by the Head Soccer Coach and/or the Athletics Director.

Physical Condition

Must be in good condition and able to demonstrate soccer skills and techniques.

Experience

Preferably three to five years of college coaching experience at a four-year institution, or three to five years of experience at the junior college, high school or club level.

Knowledge

Must be able to communicate and deal effectively with a variety of constituencies, including students, alumni, boosters, the media, and the community at large. Public speaking skills extremely helpful. Must have good organizational and administrative skills.

Education

Bachelors degree, required, Masters degree, preferred in Kinesiology and or Sports Administration.

Additional Requirements

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must be qualified to teach activities courses, requiring a good knowledge of various sports. Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
