Title
Assistant Director, Digital Marketing and Social Media
Description

Develops and manages the university's digital marketing and social media strategy for all digital platforms including the university website, provides analysis of user behavior and implements strategy for meeting digital media goals for our clients, as well as identifies emerging media and marketing opportunities.

Examples

In coordination with the Director of Marketing & Public Information, the Assistant Director for Digital Marketing & Social Media. Guides development and implementation of university-wide digital media policies and standards, including oversight of content production, processes, rules, workflow and requirements. Identifies emerging media and marketing opportunities, provides recommendations, and leads implementation upon agreement between the Director of Marketing & Public Information and Information Technology leadership. Oversees and implements multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with writers, photographers, graphic designers, videographers and strategic partners on campus. Assists with crisis management and emergency communications through the website and social media. Develops and delivers training to campus digital media content providers, serving as a resource on digital content standards and best practices for digital media. Identifies ways to integrate social media into university goals and marketing campaigns. Oversees daily posting activities in social media channels and monitors performance and social media listening tools. Develops analytic and reporting methods to measure performance and social media strategies. Leads the development for organization-wide social media management standards, policies and rules of engagement for social media. Manages digital maps and other searchable location entries used by search engines to locate and learn about the university. Stays up-to-date with digital marketing and social media trends and implements new platforms into the university’s marketing strategies.

Physical Condition
Experience

Experience of 3-5 years in a related field such as content generation or media production.

Knowledge

Operation knowledge of digital content management system(s), search engine optimization tool(s), metrics, social media posting and marketing capabilities. Skilled in writing clear, concise marketing copy and targeting writing to different audiences. Ability to listen carefully to clients and university leadership and skillfully translate requested projects to communications and marketing staff. Ability to demonstrate how a creative vision helps achieve the goals of the client and university overall. Ability to stay abreast of new digital technologies, analyze new trends and data, and provide feasible recommendations to leadership. Strong strategic and creative thinking with a disciplined approach to creative development, validation and deployment. Skills and understanding of basic usage for photography and video. Effective time management skills with the ability to meet aggressive and changing deadlines. Ability to use digital management and marketing tools such as Google Analytics and Site Improve and basic HTML. Ability to use software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing, public relations, advertising, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
