Title
Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs
Description

Responsible for assisting the Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs in planning, developing, facilitating, evaluating and refining undergraduate academic programs and curricula.

Examples

The Associate Vice President supervises the Tutoring and Academic Support Services, International Education, Office of Undergraduate Research, Student Support Services, University Writing Program, and IELI. Helps develop and evaluate new student centered academic initiatives and assures a coherent approach to academic policy development and implementation. Reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Condition
Experience

Must exhibit a record of successful college teaching and service to the department, college, and university as well as hold a scholarly or creative activities record sufficient for appointment to the faculty at the level of Associate Professor or Professor.

Knowledge

Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, and experiential learning including student research and/or internships. Commitment to and understanding of the liberal arts, sciences, and public education. Collaborative leadership style with a record of building consensus and supporting productive participatory decision-making

Education

Doctorate or Terminal Degree

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must have good leadership and managerial skills and be able to communicate effectively with a variety of constituencies. Must be detail oriented with strong skills in data analysis. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
