Medical Records - HB 4224

MSU Texas is in compliance with House Bill 4224, relating to matters in counseling and your medical records. As such, we'd like you be aware of the following information when it comes to requesting your medical records.

If you'd like to allow access to your records, please complete the MSU Texas Counseling Center's Authorization to Release/Exchange Information form and return it to the MSU Texas Counseling Center.

Complaint Process at the Student Counseling Center

If you are dissatisfied with your therapy experience, you are encouraged to discuss your reactions directly with your therapist, if possible. Understanding yoru reactions and experiences in therapy can help your therapist adjust the treatment approach to better progress toward your therapy goals.

If you're unable to resolve complaints directly with your therapist, you're invited to call 940-397-4466 to schedule a meeting with the clinical services director or managing director.

NOTICE TO CLIENTS

The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council investigates and prosecutes professional misconduct committed by marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, psychologists, psychological associates, social workers, and licensed specialists in school psychology.

Although not every complaint against or a dispute with a licenses involves professional misconduct, the Executive Council will provide you with information about how to file a complaint.

Consumer Complaint Process

The Attorney General of Texas collects and maintains records of consumer complaints to protect Texas residents from unlawful business practices. Information on how to submit a consumer compliant may be found here on the Attorney General's website.

Know that under Texas law, consumer complaints are open to the public, and the Attorney General's office asks that you do not include sensitive or confidential information in your complaint.
