Description

Responsible for providing overall leadership and advising to the fraternity and sorority community. Serves as University liaison for all registered student organizations. Reports to the Director of the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement (OSLI).

 
Examples

Support and advise student organizations with all aspects of successful program planning, advertising, budgeting, contract negotiation, use of facilities/equipment, program arrangements. Develop online and/or face-to-face training for student organization leaders and advisors on topics related to effective organization management and operation. Manage the Student Organization Fund (SOF). Coordinate student organization fairs and expos. Implement programs for students to learn about student organizations on campus, opportunities for co-curricular participation and individual growth. Administer the university registration process for all student organizations and ensures compliance with student organization policies in the Student Handbook., mandatory trainings (i.e., : risk management and hazing prevention training) and deadlines. 

Effectively advise the Interfraternity Council, Cultural Greek Council, College Panhellenic Council. Provide program oversight for formal and informal recruitment periods, including the marketing and programming to increase awareness of the general community. Oversee all areas of marketing and communication for the FSL area (including website, marketing materials, and implementing a communication plan with students and stakeholders). Coordinate educational and social programs such as New Member Institute, Greek Week, the Fraternity and Sorority Awards Banquet, National Hazing Prevention Week and advisor trainings. Monitor FSL academic progress and judicial actions. Coordinate the Standards of Excellence program for the community including monitoring and tracking student volunteer hours and philanthropy contributions. Serve as a primary contact and resource for FSL chapter advisors and as the campus liaison to regional/national representatives of the organizations. Manage operations of two chapter facilities, including budgeting, maintenance, and facility agreements. Implement programs to promote increased awareness of the FSL system.

Support all programs and initiatives originating in the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement. Assist with Mustangs Round Up, Stampede Week, Homecoming, Finals Frenzy, Maverick’s Day of Service, and other programs or services coordinated through OSLI. Assist in the total development of the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs through participation in university, division, and departmental committees. Represents the department at university functions when appropriate. Advance philosophies of student affairs while actively promoting the engagement of all students in staffing, programming, and student leadership. Assumes responsibility for other special projects and committee work as delegated. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of OSLI.

 
Physical Condition

Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over thirty pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform manual tasks associated with programming responsibilities.

Experience

At least two years prior experience – direct or transferrable -- working with and advising fraternities, sororities, and/or student groups. Experience in campus activities or planning events. Working with individuals and groups from all backgrounds.. Demonstrated skills in training and facilitation desired.

 
Knowledge

Must possess knowledge of student development theory, Fraternity and Sorority life, and successful program planning. Must possess knowledge and skills in the areas of leadership, organization management, risk management, advising, and counseling. Must be proficient in the use of computers and commonly used office software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook. Familiarity with software applications for tracking student information, student engagement (i.e., Banner, Anthology Engage, EAB Navigate, etc.) preferred.

 
Education

Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration or related field preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage a variety of tasks; willing to work flexible/extended hours, nights and weekends. Must be creative, dependable, and committed to the principles of student learning and success. Must have the ability to work in a team environment.
