Performs semi-skilled supervisory work to clean and maintain a building, or group of buildings, and their premises. Work involves the responsibility for the maintenance of building equipment inventories and the supervision of custodial workers. General supervision is received, but workers must use their own judgment for the solution of routine problems. Reports to the Custodial Superintendent.
- Examples

Supervising and participating in the work with a group of workers performing cleaning and custodial work. Inspects buildings periodically to see that work of subordinates is properly done, and to check for needed repairs. Maintains inventory records of all property and equipment associated with buildings and requisitions receives and keeps records of equipment, materials, and supplies used in the operation and maintenance of buildings. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Physical Condition

*Must be able to lift a minimum of 50-75 pounds. Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over fifty pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time, to climb stairs and ladders, to stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform a variety of manual tasks associated with duties. Must be able to work with and around cleaning products and chemicals.
- Experience

Should have considerable experience in the operation, cleaning and care and maintenance of large buildings. Experience in the supervision of custodial workers. Three years experience as a custodian will satisfy education and experience requirements.
- Knowledge
-
Considerable knowledge of methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment used in cleaning and caring for large buildings. Knowledge of the principles and methods of property and equipment inventory control. Knowledge of hazardous material handling requirements and ability to train subordinates to ensure compliance with MSDS standards. Must be able to prepare written reports and staff evaluations. Basis computer skills and knowledge of Outlook is desirable.

High school graduation or equivalent.
- Additional Requirements

Must be fully qualified as a custodian and be able to supervise and provide training to subordinate custodial personnel. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with building occupants, associates, and others. *Requires employment physical exam. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis.
