Responsibilities

The Social Work Department in the Midwestern State University, Gunn College of Health Sciences and Human Services seeks a passionate and innovative social work scholar to join our faculty team beginning August 2025. We invite applications for our 9-month position at the rank of Assistant or Associate professor to be based on our Wichita Falls campus. Priority substantive areas of scholarship include social welfare policy, administrative social work, clinical social work, mental health, human diversity, poverty and inequity, and aging. Salary commensurate with qualifications. Tenure track available upon completion of an approved doctoral degree.

Teach on-campus, hybrid, and online undergraduate generalist social work courses in Wichita Falls. Collaborate with faculty to develop, teach, organize, and evaluate courses, field sites, and student experiences for the baccalaureate social work programs. Advise and mentor students, as well as participate in faculty meetings, Gunn College collaboration, and collegiality. Candidates are expected to participate in scholarly activities aligned with duties, and be involved in the service to the university, community, and the profession.

Requirements
Required: A MSW from a CSWE-accredited program with a minimum of 2 years of post-MSW social work practice experience and Texas social work licensure or eligibility for Texas social work licensure. Preferred: PhD in social work or a closely related field or willingness to earn a PhD or doctorate. A proven record of independent scholarly potential. Teaching experience in a BSW program.
Standard Requirements

Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check. Position is designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
