The Vice President for University Advancement (VPUA) is the chief development officer for Midwestern State University (MSU) and the Director of Development for the MSU Foundation, Inc., a private nonprofit organization supporting the university. The VPUA is responsible for enhancing the university’s visibility and fostering philanthropic support to advance its mission. This role includes responsibility for the annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, major gifts and gift planning, endowment, capital campaigns, alumni and constituent engagement efforts, stewardship, and advancement services. The VPUA is a cabinet-level position reporting directly to the university president.

Build and lead a high-performing team of advancement professionals. A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience and success in fundraising management with demonstrated leadership, communication, and external relations skills or related experiences. Proven track record of soliciting and closing major gifts. Experience leading a cross-functional development team within a university or complex organization is highly valued.
- Knowledge

Strong interpersonal skills for building collaborative relationships at all organizational levels. Understanding of philanthropic and public relations interests of individuals, foundations, or corporations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Expertise in management, leadership, and collaboration with senior leadership teams. Ability to cultivate and maintain donor relationships with sound judgment. Knowledge of the higher education landscape, with the ability to work with academic and athletic units to identify fundraising opportunities preferred. Proficiency in donor databases and research, including data collection and analysis.

Serves as a member of the University’s Incident Command Structure during times of emergency or disaster and maintains appropriate National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications/trainings.
