Title
Painting Foreperson
Description

Supervisory and skilled work involving painting of buildings, fixtures, and equipment. Work involves supervising Painter I and II, and participating in the work. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.

Examples

Requisitions all necessary supplies and materials to ensure that normal work flow is not interrupted. Furnishes cost estimates on individual jobs as requested. Maintains records of materials and labor expended on each job for cost accounting purposes. Supervises painters engaged in refinishing office furniture, cabinets, tables and other fixtures. Ordering of materials & supplies

Physical Condition

Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over fifty pounds. Requires employment physical exam.

Experience

A minimum of six years of experience as a skilled painter.

Knowledge

Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices of the painting trade. Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinates. Ability to estimate time and materials needed, and to keep records. Skill in applying all types of paints and stains. Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used in the painting trade. Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationship with faculty and students when working, and with other employees.

Education

Graduation from high school or vocational school.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. In addition to meeting all of the requirements for a Painter II, the Painter Foreperson must be able to effectively supervise the work of others; keep accurate records; and coordinate work schedules with other trades forepersons and supervisors. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *A valid Texas driver's license is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
