Title
Electrical Foreperson
Description

Skilled electrical work involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and appliances. Work is performed under general supervision of the Electrical Superintendent. Supervises work of Electrician I and Electrician II in absence of Electrical Superintendent. Work requires climbing, heavy lifting, and crawling through tunnels and attics. Danger from high voltage and exposure in inclement weather are factors. Position is distinguished from Electrician II by the requirement of holding a Journeyman Electrician license four years or more and current State of Texas Electrical license.

Examples

Installs, maintains, and repairs all electrical service lines and equipment. Performs preventative maintenance, repairs and replaces transformers, motors, automatic switches, circuit breakers, buzzers, clocks, and bells. Secures necessary supplies and materials. Maintains record of materials and labor expended on each job. Uses voltmeters, amp meters, and other test equipment, as well as electric drills and tools of the electrical trade.

Physical Condition

Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over fifty pounds. Work requires climbing, heavy lifting, and crawling through tunnels and attics. Requires employment physical exam.

Experience

Four years of experience as a licensed journeyman electrician, and current State of Texas Electrician's License.

Knowledge

Thorough knowledge of the tools, materials, methods, and practices of the electrical trade, and safety precautions. Ability to work from penciled sketches and blueprints. Considerable skill in using the standard tools and equipment of the electrical trade. Considerable skill in locating and correcting defects in electrical equipment.

Education

Graduation from high school or vocational school.

Additional Requirements

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Four or more years experience as a licensed electrician. Knowledge of The National Electrical Code. Operate power tools and hand tools. Climbing ladders, light poles, driving all types of vehicles. Reading blue prints, schematics and following directions. Working in high locations and lifting moderate to heavy equipment and materials. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires physical exam. *A valid Texas driver's license is required. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
