Title
Senior Associate Director, Tutoring and Academic Support Programs
Description

The TASP Senior Associate Director supervises the day-to-day operations of Tutoring and Academic Support Programs as well as helps to implement departmental goals, visions, policies, and procedures for full time and student employees. Provides supervision and training of TASP staff including tutors, peer leaders, faculty, and staff. Maintains the training program for student staff and manages The Learning Center. Teaches up to one section of MWSU courses each long semester. Reports to the Director of Tutoring and Academic Support Programs. This position provides opportunities to supervise, teach, train, collaborate, present, and be a part of a team-oriented office that cultivates productivity and positivity and where professional goals are supported. 

Examples

Oversees day-to-day operations in TASP including but not limited to managing The Learning Center, teaching a section of MWSU courses in the long semesters including 1233 College Connections and MWSU 1003 Skills for Success. Holds office hours to meet with individual students as needed. Collaborates with and provides assistance to personnel in TASP and other campus stakeholders to implement and develop best practices in training. Create and manage the semestral tutoring schedules. Approve time for all student employees. Gathers, analyzes, and presents program data along with recommendations for improvement of service and student retention. Assists the Director with the development of new innovative programs and services to meet TASP’s mission. Prepares and presents informational presentations for TASP and university-sponsored events. Serves on university councils and committees as required. Assumes responsibilities of the Director when absent.   

Physical Condition
Experience

Minimum of five years' relevant experience working with college students and teaching at the college level preferred.

Knowledge

Knowledge of the issues, trends, theories, and methodologies related to tutoring pedagogy, academic support services, and peer-support training. Must have strong public speaking skills. Must be familiar with classroom protocol, assessments, learning management systems, as well as best practices in one-to-one student discussions and building a strong rapport with students. Ability to follow generally accepted office practices and procedures and proficiency in the use of computers and software programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and proficiency in Banner preferred.

Education

Master's degree required. 

Additional Requirements

Must have a demonstrated strong interest in and capacity for teaching and training. Teaching experience preferably at a four-year institution of higher education. Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; be able to work effectively with the student body, and be able to work collaboratively with colleagues to set, plan, and achieve ambitious goals.
