Title
Manager, Online Education
Description

The Online Education Manager assists and participates in meeting the training and development needs of faculty and coordinates, designs, and/or delivers a variety of specific training and development programs for Internet instruction. Assists with reporting and audits. Reports to the Director, Online Education, and performs other duties as assigned by the Director.


Examples

Delivers group and individual training and instruction covering specific areas; assists with the development of curricula and/or recommends or utilizes vendor programs that meet instructional goals and objectives; formulates training outlines and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and the effectiveness of methods as such individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops; coordinates and performs such other administrative functions as required to deliver and document training programs. Assists in training and development for responsible use of AI in education. Assists the Director with preparing a number of reports to THECB. Supervises the Online Education Specialist. Duties include but are not limited to assigning training materials and topics to be presented to faculty, overseeing development of training materials, and working with the Information Technology department in coordinating changes that affect the learning management system (D2L).


Physical Condition
Experience

Two years' experience in the field of online or web enhanced teaching, training, design or support as well as some teaching experience in a post-secondary educational setting. Experience in supporting faculty and staff with online or Web-enhanced courses in higher education and assisting with technical problems. Must be well organized and able to manage a number of tasks simultaneously.


Knowledge

Must have knowledge of database design and use; be familiar with course management software. Experience with D2L is ideal.

Education

Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred, with some related experience in instructional design and/or educational technology.


Additional Requirements

Must have teaching and facilitation skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; advanced verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills; and the ability to determine training objectives.
