Title
Duplicating Equipment Operator
Description

Performs journeyman level printing/duplicating work which requires operating an offset press and performing computer-to-plate camera work in the University Print Shop and under the supervision of the Print Shop Supervisor.

Examples

Must perform bindery and finishing work as well as operate a collator, folder, and other small equipment. Required work includes being able to register front to back image on 2-sided brochures, forms, business cards, and invitations, etc. Must print, register, and align each image on paper in an even coverage of ink. Must operate machinery and perform tasks to include finishing work: comb and perfect bindery, collating, cutting, drilling, laminating, mounting, numbering, padding, perforating, scoring and stitching. Operates offset presses and copy machines. Must be able to install and print with a second color T-head. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Condition

Requires sufficient agility and stamina to operate print equipment; stand for long periods of time; and safely lift and move boxes weighing fifty pounds.

Experience

Five or more years of printing/duplicating experience preferred.

Knowledge

Knowledge and understanding of wide variety of printing/duplicating equipment as well as 4-color printing. Should have working knowledge of safety procedures associated with printing equipment.

Education

Ability to read and write. High school graduation or equivalent preferred.

Additional Requirements

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must be proficient in the operation of all equipment in the printing plant to include presses, folders, punching machine and cameras. Must produce a quality product with minimal room for error. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires a post-offer employment physical exam. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Low)and requires a criminal background check.
