Title
Accessibility and Instructional Design Manager
Description

Guides faculty in creating accessible online courses and programs in compliance with laws and regulations associated with ADA compliance, including sections 504 and 508, and accessibility considerations for online learning. Provides instructional and program design expertise for the development of effective learning courses and materials across multiple delivery methods. Assists faculty in utilizing educational tools and LMS features to create supporting materials/media for their online class. Reports to the Director of Academic Outreach & Distance Education, with dotted line relationship to the Director of the Teaching and Learning Resource Center.

Examples

Collaborates with faculty on creating accessible content that meets compliance regulations, provides design assistance in the development of course delivery methods, and assists with course development to ensure effective uses of multimedia and optimal design in relation to student learning. Explores new technology advances and makes recommendations for multimedia software for use by faculty and others. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience

Requires two or more years of experience in accessibility compliance, online course design, curriculum design, or e-learning, preferably in higher education. Experience with graphic and multimedia authoring software, website design software, and online course management tools.

Knowledge

Knowledge of instructional design and instructional technology within a higher education environment. Knowledge of laws and regulations associated with ADA compliance, including sections 504 and 508, and accessibility considerations for online learning. Familiarity with principles of Universal Design for Learning.

Education

Bachelor's degree in instructional technology, education, communications, information technology, curriculum design, or related field. Master's preferred.

Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Must be customer service oriented and be able to work in a team environment.
