- Administrative and Academic Recruitment Specialist
- Description
Performs advanced clerical work assisting an administrative department head. Leads the planning, coordination and execution of recruiting activities for the college. Represents the University to the general public through scheduled presentations and recruitment activities specific to the academic college. Reports to the Dean of the College.
- Examples
Assists department head and departmental staff in a variety of detailed matters. Maintains clerical records and prepares reports from a variety of materials. Prepares correspondence, reports, payrolls, travel vouchers, and purchase requisitions. Assists in compiling and entering data for reports. Opens and distributes mail. Assists students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. Answers multiple telephone lines, takes messages, files documents, makes copies, maintains office equipment, and orders supplies. May supervise a small number of student assistants in routine office operations. May be responsible for department social media accounts. Responsible for recruitment activities in selected academic and geographical areas related to specified college/discipline. Develops and maintains relationships with high schools, community colleges, and other community programs which impact recruitment. Assists in compiling college recruitment data and developing recruitment materials. Communicates with prospective students. Works closely with the Admissions team, faculty, academic counselors, and other university units. May participate in orientation, college fairs, and admission events. Performs other related duties as assigned
- Physical Condition
Sufficient dexterity, agility, and physical condition to perform routine office tasks. Must be able to drive independently and lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
- Experience
Experience in scheduling meetings, timekeeping, preparation of documents, and making presentations. One or more years’ experience in a college or university environment desired.
- Knowledge
Requires knowledge and skill in the use of various office equipment and personal computer software programs, including but not limited, to Word, Excel, and Outlook. Considerable knowledge of accepted office procedures, principles and practices. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Requires working knowledge of academic program requirements and applicable admission procedures.
- Education
Bachelor's degree required.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Requires excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. Must be well organized, demonstrate initiative, be able to work independently with little supervision and to solve complex problems. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relations with university staff, faculty, students, and outside contacts and be a positive representative for Midwestern State University *May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act. *Must be able to work evenings and weekends and hours that may exceed the regular workweek. *Requires a valid driver's license. *Regular reliable attendance is required. This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
