Title
Manager, Adult Education and Degree Completion
Description

The Manager is responsible for the administration of the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences program as well as other degree completion programs (CHAS, IDT, SABC, ECEC) including recruitment, academic advising, budget, and personnel. The manager is responsible for coordination and collaboration with Sheppard Air Force Base and other community partners such as technical and community colleges. The manager is responsible for adult education curriculum design and teaching coursework (ADED, BAAS). Works directly and coordinates with colleges and deans across the university. Reports to the Dean of the Gordon T. & Ellen West College of Education.

Examples

Connects students to degree completion options both within and outside the West College of Education including across campus colleges and other community partners (creating transfer pathways, advisement, establishing articulation agreements, recruitment visits, advisement, tours). Supervises a small staff; manages the day-to-day operations of the office; maintains the program's budget; directs recruiting efforts; evaluates non-traditional experiences (competency-based learning assessment, work/technical credit) for academic credit; works with the BAAS/Adult Education Advisory Committee; and supervises students participating in the BAAS and Adult Education Internship program. Performs other relevant duties as assigned.

Physical Condition

Moderate physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over thirty pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform manual tasks associated with programming responsibilities.

Experience

College teaching experience as well as experience in academic advising and curriculum development. Work related experience in prior learning assessment evaluation practices and procedures (work and technical credit, competency-based learning assessment). Strong communication skills for the purpose of cultivating partnerships within and outside MSU Texas. Military experience preferred. 

Knowledge

Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn the curriculum of the program; knowledge of general management, advisement, budgeting, and program planning principles; proficiency in the use of relevant computer programs.

Education

Master's degree required.
