Title
Multimedia Specialist
Description

Under general supervision, prepares professional level content for digital media. Leads and supports work that builds advocacy and awareness for the university.

Examples

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Digital Marketing & Social Media and in coordination the Director for Marketing & Public Information, the Multimedia Specialist supports academic units in developing and maintaining accessible content on msutexas.edu, and, as available, any other subdomains by Midwestern State University. Serves as the office’s primary contact with the university’s academic units for content development to be used in various digital media. Produces monthly digital analytics for university clients. Possesses basic knowledge of cameras and photography. Assists in training campus constituents on social media and other digital media practices and policies.

Physical Condition
Experience

Experience of more than 2-3 years in a related field. Bilingual preferred but not required.

Knowledge

Ability to write professional, accurate copy for various purposes, such as internal and external communication, digital media materials, and reports; Knowledge of federal state law and Midwestern State University operating policies with regard to communication and marketing practices; Operational knowledge of digital content management system(s) and social media capabilities; Knowledge of various forms of presentation, including artwork, graphic design, video, photography, and written content; Ability to express ideas in a clear and structured manner; Ability to understand and meet assigned deadlines; Ability to utilize a personal computer and software such as Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Creative Cloud; Ability to use digital management tools such as Google Analytics, Site Improve, and social media management platforms.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing, public relations, advertising, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Should possess the sensitivity and skill to work with a diverse student and employee population; the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment and personal maturity; and strong interpersonal skills. Understanding of how to work in a time-sensitive workspace. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.

Standard Requirements
