Title
Web Content Specialist
Description

The Web Content Specialist is primarily responsible for content on the MSU Texas website (www.msutexas.edu). Other duties include monitoring content across the university website and assisting academic and administrative departments with updating pages.

Examples

Under the supervision of the Web Content Manager and in coordination with the Director of Marketing & Public Information, the Web Content Specialist: works with internal clients and subject matter experts to create and update compelling content for the University's websites and ensure adherence with branding guidelines; understands internal clients' goals and marketing plans and work with them to research, develop, and write appropriate and engaging content for their websites; conducts a variety of research for web projects and provides analysis and recommendations as necessary; participates in ongoing implementation of SEO recommendations and works to ensure SEO best practices are properly implemented; implements ongoing web accessibility updates to ensure website compliance with accessibility standards; develops strong working relationships with team members, internal clients, and departments throughout the University; coordinates multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, driving follow-up and awareness of deadlines both within marketing team and with the client; and performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Physical Condition
Experience

Experience of 1-2 years of professional web development and web maintenance. Preferred experience with basic HTML and keyword research tools, web content management systems, knowledge in web analytics and web accessibility tools and standards and experience using graphic design tools for basic photo editing..

Knowledge

Knowledge of content management systems and basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. Knowledge with SEO, accessibility, and web analytics. knowledge of current web trends, techniques, and technologies. Skills in computer applications for web production (proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus). Skills in website tools such as Siteimprove and Looker Studio. Ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently. Strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and an aptitude for making quick, informed decisions. Strong sense of customer service. Strong organizational skills and able to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Use of standard office equipment. 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in communication, web development or related field preferred. 

Additional Requirements

Must have the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment and personal maturity; and strong interpersonal skills. Understanding of how to work in a time-sensitive workspace. 

Standard Requirements

Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements. Regular reliable attendance is required.
