Title
Assistant Director, Testing Services
Description

The Assistant Director is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive Testing Services program. Responsibilities include developing, monitoring, and managing a testing program to guide students' admissions and academic placement; analyzing existing test security protocols and, when appropriate, developing and implementing new ones; and developing and implementing innovative approaches to testing preparation. Upholds the professional standards and guidelines established by the National Collegiate Testing Association, Prometric testing services, and PearsonVue. Assumes primary supervision of Testing Services in the Director's absence. Reports to the Director of the Career Management Center and Testing Services.

Examples

Manages the Career Management Center & Testing Services comprehensive, integrated, and responsive testing services component.  Designs and maintains the Testing Center website; establishes testing schedules; formulates and manages the Testing Center staff and budget. Plans and supervises testing activities. Implements and supervises the administration of all standardized tests and re-tests sanctioned by Midwestern State University. Responsible for all local and national testing as well as supervision, administration, and management of three computer-based testing labs including Prometric and Pearson/VUE. Serves on university committees and work groups as needed to promote the vision and goals of Testing Services. Provides leadership, oversight, training and supervision of professional and student staff. Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Physical Condition

Mild physical activity with occasional lifting of objects weighing over twenty pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform manual tasks associated with programming and outreach responsibilities of position.

Experience

Must have experience in testing programs, preferably at a four-year college or university. A background in educational psychology, educational measurement/psychometric theory is preferred. Administrative and supervisory experience is desirable.

Knowledge

Must have extensive knowledge of testing and measurement techniques as well as generally accepted budgeting and staffing practices. Must also have knowledge of standard office practices and procedures and skill in the use of personal computers and commonly used office software programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

Education

Master's degree required.

Additional Requirements

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Maintains a current Certification of Authorization for Prometric, PearsonVue, and any others as required for test administration. Must be team and detail oriented. Strictly adheres to the standards, policies, and procedures outlined by individual testing companies and set within each of the three Testing Services Labs/Centers. Must possess outstanding time management and organizational skills and exercise sound judgment. Must demonstrate leadership and professionalism. Requires excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with constituencies. Must be able to set priorities and goals and objectives. Must be able to take initiative and work independently. Must have the sensitivity and skill to work inclusively with a diverse and multicultural student, employee, and community population. *Some travel, evening and weekend work required. *Designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
