Title
Piano Accompanist/Collaborative Pianist
Description

Provides piano/keyboard accompaniment in a variety of settings. 

Examples

Duties will include a combination of the following: accompaniment of choirs, instrumental ensembles, or chamber groups in rehearsals, sectionals, concerts and other special events; accompaniment of instrumental and vocal music majors, including juries, recitals, and special events; accompaniment of other ensembles such as opera workshop, accompanying/leading rehearsals and presentations of musical theatre plays; collaboration and participation with faculty in departmental and faculty recitals, participation with faculty in departmental and faculty recitals, participation in assigned summer camps or community programs. Other duties as assigned, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Physical Condition

This position requires physical activity that may involve lifting of moving objects weighing less than 40lbs.

Experience

One year of previous accompanist duties.

Knowledge

Must be versatile in different collaborative settings, styles, musical periods, and with excellent sight-reading skills.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accompaniment/collaborative piano or piano performance required. Master of Music or higher degree in accompanying/collaborative piano or piano performance preferred.

Must have strong oral and written communication skills. Must have a demonstrated interest in working with and assisting students and faculty and be adaptable, flexible, and cooperative; have strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to work with diverse populations. This position requires flexibility to work on designated events to include evenings or weekends*Regular reliable attendance is required. *Designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
