Title
Librarian, Collection Development/Systems
Description

Supervises cataloging, arrangement, and preservation of special collections and archives. Provides reference and research assistance to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and outside researchers using special collections materials. Creates and delivers course-integrated special collections and archives instruction to college classes. Reports to the Associate University Librarian.

Examples

Conducts tours and offer programming that promotes special collections. Coordinates with college offices to identify, evaluate, and preserve important documents, materials, and information relevant to the history of MSU. Oversees creation of finding aids. Manages digitization projects. Designs and arranges exhibits.

Physical Condition
Experience

Library experience is desirable, as is supervisory experience. Experience in an academic library preferred. Teaching or instructional experience required specifically teaching with archival materials.

Knowledge

Knowledge in evaluating and selecting rare books and manuscripts, processing collections, care and preservation of historical materials and digital initiatives and preservation.

Education

Master of Library Science from an ALA accredited program with coursework in preservation, archives, or special collections.
