- Description
Library instruction is the primary responsibility of this position, which includes developing and leading one-shot library instruction sessions, workshops, and programming for the library. Works with and advises MSU students, faculty, and staff on research projects through in-person consultations, online chat, email, and phone. Other responsibilities include creating and maintaining online course guides, instructional media, and subject guides. Reports to the Associate University Librarian.
- Examples
Teaches library or research instruction sessions for upper- and lower-level classes; presents informational sessions to departmental faculty and other groups. Works with faculty in integrating library resources into classes. Instruction Librarians will maintain and manage one more specific collections within the library, such as Media, Curriculum Materials, Reference, and/or Government Documents. Orders materials, maintains budget for collection, arranges materials, keeps inventory of collection, and cares/services non-print materials and equipment.

- Experience
Library experience is desirable, as is supervisory experience. Experience in an academic library preferred. Teaching or instructional experience required. Experience with ExLibris Library Management Systems (ALMA and Primo), LibGuides, Camtasia, and course management systems.
- Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of library resources and services. Knowledge of developing online instructional materials, building relationships and collaborating with academic and administrative departments in an academic environment.
- Education
Master of Library Science from an ALA accredited program.
