- Assistant Director, Student Services – Flower Mound Campus
- Description
Advises and assists non-traditional and transfer students with questions relating to enrollment, financial aid, academic programs, degree plans, counseling, disability support services, and other pertinent student services functions. Assists Director of Flower Mound in continuous improvement of all student services, facilities, and policies pursuant to student affairs. Reports to the Director of the Flower Mound Campus.
- Examples
Assists program coordinator of the RN-BSN program with prospective student inquires such as detailed program questions, prerequisites, enrollment questions, and completion time. Communicates with academic advisors and student on additional requirements and documents. Assists student with applying to MSU and the Wilson School of Nursing. Performs student tracking between dual enrollment and traditional post-licensure students. Assists with recruitment initiatives for RN-BSN students from community college partners. Assists students with consortium agreements for financial aid.
Assists potential and current students regarding how to apply to Midwestern State University and check their status. Answers questions relating to classes from transfer institutions. Facilitates introductions to a specific academic program counselor at the Wichita Falls Campus. Assists in questions regarding general financial aid such as due dates, FAFSA, grants, and scholarships. Communicates needs to the Wichita Falls campus relating to MSU Disability Support Services, Counseling, Business Office, Career Management, shared tutoring services, the Registrar, and the Writing Proficiency Exam. Assists Director in maintaining accurate records on student conduct including academic or conduct violations and appropriate sanctions. Handles confidential/restricted student records and requests for special accommodations for student success and learning. Prepares complex materials including student enrollment reports, analyses, recommendations for future programs, and procedures for best practices.
For the RN-BSN program, answers inbound internet, email, or phone inquiries about the RN-BSN program. Works with student (and program coordinator) on ensuring perquisites are satisfied before application to MSU and the Wilson School of nursing (WSN). Reconciles weekly reports that differentiate between post-licensure and dually enrolled students; additionally, works with registrar on changing attributes within native system. Ensures students have completed ApplyTexas and the WSN application. Upon admittance, will send students acceptance letter, how to register for classes, how to complete online orientation, and assist student with financial aid consortium document (dual enrollment only).

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and bend and stoop while filing.
- Experience
Minimum of three years' experience in higher education; specifically in student services, student affairs, academic advising, and financial aid.
- Knowledge
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task. Must demonstrate an understanding of college readiness and adult learners. Have the knowledge to learn the University's core curriculum, academic programs, and the MSU Student Data System.
- Education
Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
