Title
Study Abroad Specialist
Description

Works directly and reports to Director of Global Education. Manages all duties pertaining to Study Abroad. This includes program advising and oversight of the student application process from prospective student to completion of study abroad program. Must collaborate and coordinate all student information needed with other campus offices such as the Academic Colleges, Business Office, Financial Aid Office, Registrar's Office, Veteran's Affairs Office, Admissions Office and any other entity on campus involved in study abroad programs.

Examples

Advise students on appropriate study abroad programs and how they fit into degree plans. Update website related to study abroad programs. Assist students in application process, including applying for their passports. Once admitted into programs, work with Academic Colleges and Registrar's office to register students for study abroad program. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Condition

Able to travel internationally on occasion.

Experience

Must have extensive knowledge of university processes and working with students. Must be flexible in a wide range of administrative duties, office machines and procedures, and working in a multi-dimensional office. Must be able to work with different students in understanding their goals and advising them of appropriate programs.

Knowledge

Knowledge of international education models and outcomes is preferred. Must be knowledgeable in Excel, Word, Power Point, Google Docs, and Outlook. Prefer knowledge of Banner software. Must be able to work autonomously.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates without a Bachelor's Degree will be considered if they have extensive experience working in a college and university environment.

Must be well organized and able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and departments on campus. Demonstrates a self-motivated work ethic.

Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements. Regular reliable attendance is required.

This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check. Position is designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
