- Description
Works directly with and reports to Director of Global Education. Manages all duties pertaining to legal compliance of international students/scholars on the campus of Midwestern State University who hold the F-1 non-immigrant visa. Position serves as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO). Coordinate activities and advise other Designated School Officials.
- Examples
Advise and assist students, scholars, and visitors in obtaining and maintaining non-immigrant status and work authorization. Prepare immigration documents and correspond with the United States Citizen and Immigration Services (USICS). Will also manage all SEVIS transactions, and advise university departments and international visitors on student related immigration issues.
- Physical Condition
Able to travel on occasion.
- Experience
Must have extensive knowledge of university processes and working with students. Must be flexible in a wide range of administrative duties, office machines and procedures, and working in a multi-dimensional office. Must be able to work with different students in understanding their goals and advising them of appropriate programs.
- Knowledge
Knowledge of international education models and outcomes is preferred. Must be knowledgeable in Excel, Word, Power Point, Google Docs, and Outlook. Prefer knowledge of Banner software. Must be able to work autonomously.
- Education
Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.
- Additional Requirements
SEVIS experience is required. Must be well organized and able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and departments on campus. Ability to communicate with students, faculty members and others both in a one-on-one setting and in large groups. Ability to work with a diverse and multicultural population. Demonstrates a self-motivated work ethic. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Physical exam required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod)and requires a criminal background check.
