- Description
This position is responsible for a state, federal, or local financial aid program of the university under the direct supervision of a Financial Aid Director. Work includes considerable public contact in interpreting and explaining policies and regulations regarding financial aid, counseling students concerning financial aid eligibility, and repayment of loans. Activities may include increased supervision of other office employees and the processing of important clerical work. This position is an advanced position for staff members with a high level of experience in a variety of financial aid processes.
- Examples
Interviews and counsels students, parents, and others regarding eligibility requirements for financial aid. Answers and initiates correspondence to advise applicants regarding their eligibility for financial aid, status of their loan application, and resolves award and loan discrepancies which may prohibit the successful completion of financial aid processes. Oversees and processes Federal, State and Institutional awards and loans. Performs related duties as required.
- Physical Condition
- Experience
Two years of experience in general clerical work, involving the counseling experience.
- Knowledge
Knowledge of financial aid policies and procedures with ability to present formal briefings. Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, and business mathematics. Ability to make difficult mathematical computations and tabulations rapidly and accurately. Ability to prepare accurate reports for fund accounting information. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and other employees, and to deal with public relations problems courteously and tactfully.
- Education
Completion of two years of college, including courses in typing and/or bookkeeping.
- Additional Requirements
Use of computer and 10-key by touch with good interpersonal skills.
