Title
Simulation Technician, Regional Simulation Center
Description

Provides technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in use of simulation equipment at the JS Bridwell Regional Simulation Center. Reports to the Director of the Regional Simulation Center.

Examples

Maintains simulation activities and schedules. Collects data for ongoing research or grant requirements. Programs simulator software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications. Maintains patient simulators, and audio-visual and debriefing systems. Maintains and repairs all simulation and medical equipment. Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and contacts vendors as needed. Collaborates with supervisor to organize, maintain and restock skills lab and simulation laboratory supplies. Provides technical support for multimedia peripherals. Maintains current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment catalogs and operation manuals. In consultation with Information Technology, provides recommendations on equipment, supplies and materials. Computer repair and support to be done in collaboration and consultation with Information Technology following campus standards. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Physical Condition

Ability to lift, move, maintain and set up computer, audio-visual and simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Experience

Background in computer technology and troubleshooting. Experience with providing technical support in networking, computer hardware or software. Skills in operating a PC and Mac with experience in MS Office and the ability to learn additional software programs, including audiovisual and computerized simulation equipment.

Knowledge

Clinical knowledge and experience working in a healthcare related field such as EMT, paramedic, or other allied health profession certification and training program. Knowledge of operation of standard audio-visual equipment: projectors, microphones, portable screens, media players, etc. Mechanical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in the simulation center.

Education

Bachelor's Degree.
