Title
Assistant Director, MOSAIC Center
Description

The Assistant Director of MOSAIC Center for Community & Belonging  oversees the development, implementation and assessment of initiatives that support belonging and engagement of the campus community and targeted groups such as first-generation, parenting, commuters, etc. at MSU Texas These efforts include, but are not limited to, consulting with students, faculty, staff, mentoring, advising and supervising student staff, and designing programs and resources to meet their needs. Reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.

Examples

Design and implement programming and resources to support enrollment, retention and success. Provide leadership, personal development, and skill-based training opportunities to faculty and staff on Mosaic’s ACE groups (parenting, commuters, first-gen). Design and create resource and online materials for different targeted groups. Serve as an advocate regarding student policies and processes that affect their enrollment and success. Research and analyze student needs on a regular basis, recommending initiatives to support student needs. Serve as liaison and coordinator for the Texas Leadership Scholars Program. Develop a network of external resources to support students, including educational institutions, government agencies, professional organizations, etc. Serve as an information resource to students. Provides leadership and support in the annual development, planning, coordination, scheduling, and implementation of the Center's programming and resources as needed. Assist with the development, coordination and implementation of annual goals and objectives for the Center. Assists with preparing reports and proposals (i.e. progress/annual reports, statistical summaries) as requested by administration. May supervise student staff and collaborate with other campus departments in programming and student support. Other duties as assigned.

Experience

Must possess direct and sustained experience with leadership development training, group facilitation, assessment and program evaluation, student learning, student and staff development, student conduct and due process, developing and applying University policies, and ability to effectively supervise staff. Must have strong communication and organizational skills. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, supervisors, University staff, students and the public. Must have creative and artistic abilities and skill in planning and effectively managing multiple projects to completion. Must be proficient in the use of digital tools, resources, and technologies for the advancement of student learning and professional performance. Leadership and enthusiasm a must. 

Knowledge

Demonstrated knowledge of national research, issues, and current events regarding college students and the ability to translate this information into programming and resources designed to support students' retention and success.  Strong advising, program development and management skills. Demonstrated ability to plan and achieve short and long term goals driven by the mission and objectives of the Center, as well as with institutional data. Proven presentation and communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency with basic computer programs and systems (such as Microsoft Office applications, as well as internet, calendaring and email management systems).

Education

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field preferred.

Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check. Position is designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
