- Manager, Nonprofit Management Center and AmeriCorps Planning
- Description
Responsible for assisting the Director of the Center for Nonprofit Management & Leadership (“the Center”) in administering all day-to-day operations of the Center and implementing the MSU AmeriCorps Program Planning Grant, including grant management and reporting, event planning and execution, budgeting, liaising with the local, regional, and national nonprofit community, attending required training and engagement with MSU entities involved with nonprofit service. Reports to the Director of the Center for Nonprofit Management & Leadership.
- Examples
Assists the Director in maintaining and expanding the non-profit management program at MSU, including the nonprofit management minor, the Center, and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant. This includes: Build strategic relationships with local, regional, and national nonprofit entities and organizations to ensure the two-way flow of information and assistance. Manage and oversee events hosted by the Center, the Nonprofit Management Program, and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant. Create and implement new events designed to build support for and capacity in the regional nonprofit community and within MSU. Create marketing and promotional material for the Center, the Nonprofit
Management Program, and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant. Oversee, plan, and execute the annual Priddy Institute for Nonprofit Leadership. Oversee, plan, and execute the annual Nonprofit Management Certificate Program. Identify community needs through surveys, focus groups, interviews, and other assessment forms for the Center, the Nonprofit Management Program, and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant. Oversee program assessment and evaluation for the Center, the Nonprofit Management Program, and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant. Oversee and reconcile the monthly program expenses and revenue budget for the Center, the Nonprofit Management Program, and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant. Write, compile, and submit required reports to funders and other stakeholders. Manage contracts and major purchases for the Center, the Nonprofit Management Program, and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant. Oversee and supervise Center interns and student workers. Represent the Center, MSU, and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant in the community at nonprofit and other recruitment events. Attend local nonprofit organization events after hours (before 8:00 am, after 5:00 pm; weekends) as a representative of the Center and the MSU AmeriCorps planning grant. Other duties as assigned by the Director.
- Physical Condition
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform manual tasks associated with program responsibilities and events.
- Experience
Five plus years' experience with or in the nonprofit community preferred. Experience with grant writing and administration preferred.
- Knowledge
Must be knowledgeable in using personal computers and commonly used office software programs, such as Microsoft Office applications, as well as standard office practices and procedures. Experience with Razor's Edge or Donor Perfect software is preferred. Experience with Quickbooks is preferred.
- Education
Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but applicable nonprofit work experience instead of a degree will be considered.
Certifications from BoardSource, Standards for Excellence, or other similar nonprofit best practices are highly desired.
- Additional Requirements
Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as proven organizational skills. Must be a positive representative of the university and possess the ability to establish working relationships with various constituencies, including foundations, donor groups, nonprofit entities, students, faculty, and staff. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends with limited supervision.
