Title
Assistant Director, Nonprofit Management Center
Description

Responsible for assisting the Director in administering all aspects of the program, including: grants application and administration; event planning and execution; budgeting; liaising with the local, regional, and national nonprofit community; and engagement with MSU entities involved with nonprofit service. Reports to the Director of the NPM Program.

Examples

Assists the Director in recruiting for and administering the NPM program. Builds strategic relationships with local, regional, and national nonprofit entities and organizations to ensure the two-way flow of information and assistance. Leads the creation and implementation of events designed to build support for and capacity in the regional nonprofit community and within MSU. Creates marketing and promotional material for the NPM minor and other program events. Leads planning and execution for the annual Nonprofit Institute. Works closely with the Continuing Education office to implement the NPM Certificate Program. Oversees program assessment and evaluation. Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Physical Condition

Ability to stand for extended periods of time, to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and reach overhead. Sufficient strength, stamina, and mobility to perform manual tasks associated with program responsibilities and events.

Experience

Three years' experience with or in the nonprofit community strongly preferred. Experience with grant writing and administration preferred.

Knowledge

Must be knowledgeable in the use of personal computers and commonly used office software programs, such as MS Office applications, as well as standard office practices and procedures. Experience with Razor's Edge or Donor Perfect software is preferred.

Education

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as proven organizational skills. Must be a positive representative of the university and possess the ability to establish working relationships with various constituencies including foundations, donor groups, nonprofit entities, students, faculty, and staff. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends with limited supervision. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *This position is designated as security sensitive (mod) and requires a criminal background check.
