Title
Assistant Director, Admissions Welcome Center
Description

Reports to the Associate Director of Admissions. Develops, plans, coordinates, and manages all admission events sponsored by MSU Admissions, including staffing, security, facilities, equipment, food, maintenance, signage, transportation etc. and coordinates with faculty and other departments on campus to ensure all event requirements are met.

Examples

Monitors, analyzes and evaluates admission events to ensure that objectives are met and to provide a continual means of improvement and enhancement. Recruits, selects, manages, and supervises student tour guides. Oversees the daily operation of the MSU Welcome Center including all aspects of the comprehensive daily visit program for prospective students and families, including group visits and Saturday tours. Assists with other aspects of recruitment such as college fairs and presentations, as needed.. Meets with and provides counseling on the admissions process to prospective students and parents, including walk-ins, as necessary. Oversees the management and coordination of the awarding process for general merit scholarships to new incoming students, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and enrollment goals. Provides oversight of the Admissions Office in the absence of the Director and Associate Director. Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, parents, faculty, co-workers, and managers. Acts as a liaison with the Webmaster staff to maintain the campus visit webpage.

Physical Condition

Ability to travel for short periods of time. Ability to lift a minimum of twenty pounds.

Experience

Minimum of three years progressive experience planning events, preferably in a college environment. Experience in enrollment management, recruitment, or admissions. Experience working with databases, web configuration, demographics, and admissions counseling.

Knowledge

Thorough understanding of admission policies, university policies, regulations, and degree requirements. Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers and commonly used office software programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Background in Banner software preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills, required.

Education

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or some graduate work, preferred.

Additional Requirements

Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of interaction involving the public and university faculty/administration. Must make a strong positive representation of MSU to achieve stated enrollment goals. Must be willing to serve on various university committees, as needed. Must be adaptable, flexible, and cooperative. Occasional evening and weekend programming required. Other duties as assigned. Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis.
