Title
Assistant Director, Admissions-DFW Region
Description

Manages regional recruitment activities including the coordination, scheduling and hosting of recruitment projects and events in the DFW area sponsored by MSU Admissions. Assists with supervision and training of regional Admissions Office personnel. Maintains thorough and specialized knowledge of Midwestern State University's policies and programs. Assists with the adaptation and implementation of technology. Recruits and advises students through the MSU Admissions process. Travels extensively to high schools and junior/community colleges in the DFW area and maintains key relationships with high school and community college administration for recruitment/retention of prospective MSU students. Assesses and monitors the progress of recruitment efforts in the region. Reports to the Director of Admissions.

Examples

Aids the director in regional staff management. Assists with the development of recruitment materials, making recommendations to the Director regarding Admissions Office policies and procedures. Travels for extended periods of time in the DFW metro area to recruit and retain prospective MSU students following MSU's enrollment management plan. Works with Information Systems and Webmaster for implementation and adaptation of technology. Works independently, making presentations to prospective students and community organizations.

Physical Condition

Ability to travel for extended periods of time. Ability to lift a minimum of twenty pounds.

Experience

Minimum of three years progressive experience and training in a college environment, preferably in college admissions, school relations, and/or recruitment. Experience in enrollment management planning. Background in technology strongly preferred. Experience in working with databases, web configuration, demographics, and admissions counseling.

Knowledge

Thorough understanding of admission policies, university policies, regulations, and degree requirements. Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers and commonly used office software programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Background in Banner software, preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills, required.

Education

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree or some graduate work, preferred.

Additional Requirements

Requires the ability to work well with diverse populations and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. This position is based in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas metropolitan area with occasional travel to Wichita Falls as designated by the Director. Requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with diverse populations, and general office skills. Must be able to work independently and as a team member. Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of interaction involving the public and university faculty/administration. Must make a strong, positive representation of MSU and attract quality applicants to achieve stated enrollment goals. Must be adaptable, flexible, and cooperative. Occasional evening and weekend programming required. Other duties as assigned. *Regular reliable attendance is required. *Requires a valid Texas driver's license. * Must be available some nights and weekends. Must periodically serve on a standby or on-call basis. *This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check.
